The painting features a fork, vase, and a skull inside a basket. Where the skull is the focus. The complete painting represents the way that our society today has become desensitized to death and tragedy where it is instead consumed as entertainment or seen as something to laugh at. Like horrible topics that are shoved into a casual conversation – or made into jokes – like a picnic, to the point where it loses severity – hence the basket
